POSTPARTUM DOULA CARE

We aim to empower parents in those early weeks so that the relationship between baby and parents can flourish. We strive to provide a sense of balance so that families are less stressed and in turn able to develop a strong bond between their baby and other children. Kindness and empathy are at the core of everything we do.

SERVICES INCLUDE:

We are trained in CPR/First Aid and can help to provide education on newborn care, including bathing, diapering, and cord care. We can guide you in reading your baby’s cues as well as establishing healthy sleep habits for your new baby. We will be happy to provide some light housekeeping such as baby laundry and bottle washing or provide baby care while you rest.

“Having my first child was both exhilarating, joyous, and anxiety-ridden. As excited as I was to have a healthy child, I was riddled with doubt and confusion on how I would best keep her healthy and meet her needs. This was where Ingrid as a Doula was indispensable during my postpartum. She was empathetic, vulnerable, and an active listener, while being resourceful and reassuring. I learned a lot of great facts and tips that helped reinforce I was on the right track, and/or gave hope to improve situations by employing something new. Over the weeks, she and I noticed that I had become more confident, comfortable, and overall less stressed in caring for my little one. I am so grateful, because she was key in helping me get to that point and that has made all the difference in how I interact with my baby and husband.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Postpartum doulas can help in a variety of ways. At Primrose Postpartum we are there to be an extra pair of hands and to provide non-medical advice, evidence-based information and essential baby care education. We strive to help families create a routine that is unique to them and their parenting philosophy and to help foster the relationships between siblings and the new baby.
While that is completely up to your family, a postpartum doula is ideally used during the first 12 weeks of life, or during the “Fourth Trimester”.
Postpartum doulas are trained specifically to help families in the postpartum period. While nannies and family members are also fantastic resources for support, they are often not trained specifically in non-medical support for the postpartum family.
